Rules for Love Poems in the Arden Woods

The Arden Shakespeare Gild invites you to post your own love poems in our own Forest of Arden through our opening night on June 18. Rules for this event:

  1. Arden Woods only. No Sherwood Forest. No village greens or playgrounds.
  2. No marring of trees. No pushpins or nails. No carving or spray paint. Impale your poems on twigs, hang them with ribbon, tuck them in knotholes. To keep them dry, put them in bottles hung from branches.
  3. Suitable and legible for all ages.
  4. If you think a poem has been written specifically to you, you may collect it. Otherwise, leave it for others to read and guess at.
  5. If you find a poem, tell your friends where it is, so they can find it too
  6. Be mysterious, be anonymous, pour your heart out in rhyme or un-rhyme, blank verse or limerick (of the clean variety), sonnet or haiku.
